A driving licence allows you to drive unaccompanied on all public roads in the category of vehicle for which you hold a driving licence. If you passed your driving test in an automatic vehicle you will only be licensed to drive that type of vehicle

Changes to learner permit to renewals 

Changes to Learner Permit renewals - Here’s what you need to know:

 

🟢Obtaining a 3rd Permit:

• Must have sat a driving test in the past 2 years

 

🟡Obtaining a 4th Permit:

• Must have sat a driving test in the past 2 years

• Valid for 1 year only

 

🔴Obtaining a Permit (After 7+ years holding a Learner Permit):

• Retake the Driver Theory Test

• Apply for a new Learner Permit

• Complete EDT (12 lessons) or IBT (16–18 hrs for motorbikes) before your next *driving test

 

*Can’t sit driving test until you have held the learner permit for 6 months
